Jane Powell was born Suzanne Lorraine Burce on April 1st 1929 in Portland Oregan. Jane soon became noticed for her exceptional singing voice and while still a child she began a career in radio. Before long Jane's outstanding talent meant she was bound for a career in Hollywood movies. Jane Powell's career as an actress was highly successful and she became one of the greatest movie stars of the 1940/50s. Jane Powell is quite rightly remembered much more fondly than most movies stars because of her unique sunny personality and her ability to charm any audience. Jane retired from movies in 1958 and concentrated on a career in stage and television which she has continued until today. Jane Powell has brought first-rate entertainment to people the world over for six decades, and is appreciated and cherished for being one of the finest performers of all time.

There is something completely unique about Jane Powell's voice, whenever I listen to Jane singing my ears literally purr and no other singer has ever had that effect on me, thats one of the reasons why I think there is something so magical about her voice. Jane is such a wonderful actress too and has played many different roles, each role demanding its own different style of acting. Jane is such a wonderful person, and anyone who has ever read Jane's autobiography 'The Girl Next Door-And How She Grew' will be impressed by Jane's intelligence, honesty, dignity and complete humanity in the face of many trials and tribulations. Jane Powell has truly suffered in her life-journey and it is to her credit that she has survived that difficult journey. Jane Powell is a woman who really does have everything, she is undoubtedly the girl most lovely.
